Maine Balsam Fir is known for its thick, full dark, green color and rich fragrance that captures the essence of the Maine woods. It’s what we like to call the scent of the season. Mingo’s Farm has been harvesting balsam since the 1950s, and we’ve perfected the process. At the height of the holiday season, our greenery is harvested and processed naturally. Our pickers harvest by trimming the outside lower branches, which ensures regeneration of balsam trees for future harvesting and safeguards thousands of forest acres in Maine. Only after several weeks of freezing temperatures, once the balsam trees become dormant, the tree will have the lasting color and aroma throughout the holiday season.
